Counseling Approach

One of the most impactful phrases that has shaped my empathy and perspective in all areas of life is, "Life is a marathon, not a sprint." We all face daily challenges and stressors that can weigh us down.

Through our counseling sessions, my hope is to help cultivate alternative ways of thinking and set realistic, attainable goals that not only address obstacles but also foster a resilient mindset, one that is capable of problem-solving and adapting to life's ups and downs.

Experience

Hunter has a significant amount of experience working with children and parents. He worked at the SMU Center for Family Counseling with clients of all ages during his practicum in his Masters of Counseling program. Since then, Hunter has worked in private practice helping numerous children, teens, and parents navigate life struggles, behavior problems, anxiety, depression, and helping them learn new coping skills and life strategies for improved happiness and success.

Education

Hunter earned his Master of Science degree in Clinical Counseling from Southern Methodist University, a leading institution in therapy education. He specialized in child play therapy and family therapy coursework. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Neuroscience from the University of Texas at Dallas.

Experience

Hunter worked for over five years as a Registered Behavior Therapist with children, teens, and adults with ASD in both center-based and in-home settings. Hunter helped train new ABA therapists to deliver behavioral-based therapy to clients and their families.

He also worked at the Children's Advocacy Center utilizing play therapy and Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and helping children cope with trauma, PTSD, anxiety, and depression.
