Counseling Approach

Cyndi strongly believes that counselling individuals can and will enhance their quality of life through understanding, empathy, and acceptance. Each person who enters counseling deserves to be treated with warmth and unconditional positive regard. Cyndi's approach to counseling is largely based on Carl Rogers' humanistic theory of personality development which is described as person-centered. Cyndi has unique qualifications in working with children from her 25 year career in education and also truly enjoys working with people all along the life spectrum.

Education

Cyndi received her Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood and Special Education from Wheelock College in Boston, Massachusetts. She received a Master of Arts degree in Educational Psychology from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, California. Cyndi received a second Master of Science degree in Counseling from Southern Methodist University. Additionally, Cyndi has attended numerous conferences, workshops and seminars to stay current in the field of counseling.

Experience

Cyndi’s first career was in public education. She taught both general and special education before becoming a principal of both elementary and middle school. Cyndi completed her public education career as the Director of Early Childhood Intervention for the county of Los Angeles, California. Upon re-locating to to Texas, Cyndi has since been counseling individuals of all ages, and specializing in play and activity therapy with children aged three through adolescence.
